Amadeus’ President & CEO, Luis Maroto received honours from Madrid Excelente, an organisation that recognises and certifies excellence in business management, for his role in the internationalisation of Amadeus.
Since assuming the top position at Amadeus in 2011, Maroto has overseen global expansion with key acquisitions in North America and Asia Pacific.
Maroto said, “The internationalisation of companies in general, and in particular for those in the technology arena, is today an obligation as there are no longer local solutions.“
In his acceptance speech, Maroto talked about how this award was a reflection of the work of the approximately 14,000 Amadeus employees around the world who are devoted to innovation and improving the way we travel. He also highlighted the fact that Amadeus is the biggest investor in R&D in the travel industry in Europe according to the European Commission R&D Scorecard.
Finally, Maroto commented that “internationalisation is not only about exporting: it is about knowing the different cultures and traditions and adapting our products and services to their needs. Amadeus has local management and employees to help with it.”
